Weeks of April 19 - April 22
Reading: For the next two weeks, we will be working on Making Inferences. This week's main selection is titled Seven Spools of Thread. In this story, a father who loves all of his seven sons is disappointed because the sons argue all of the time. When the father dies, they find out they will not inherit their father's money unless they turn seven spools of thread into gold. Eventually, the father's strange instruction will bring peace to his children.
Grammar/Writing: In grammar, we will be comparing and contrasting linking vs. action verbs. In writing, will are going to publish the "Diamante" poems we have been working on.
Spelling: We will be studying words with the vowel sound in "ou"
Math: This week we will be learning to analyze and graph data. We learning how to make a pictograph, a bar graph and how to locate points on a grid. Please continue to encourage your child to visit the FIRST IN MATH website. The class is doing a great job with earning stickers!!
Science: We are continuing to learn about the Water Cycle. We are learning about the movement of water from Earth's surface to the air and back to Earth. Key vocabulary evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and water cycle.
